While more attention is undoubtedly on the top technology companies like Samsung, Apple and Google there are other players in the smartphone market with their own plans. The Finnish company HMD Global that currently owns the Nokia brand has some aggressive plans while holding back on a few products at the same time. The latest significant rumor to have emerged about this company is that the Nokia 9.2 is a smartphone that will be released soon.
The Processor will be the Snapdragon 865 SoC
There were rumors that earlier suggested HMD Global may be launching its Nokia 9.1 PureView model in a new variant with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. However, this latest information says the company has on its cards an all-new model that will bear the moniker Nokia 9.2. More importantly, it will be fitted with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. If this rumor is correct, then Nokia will have a device right on the pile of smartphones competing with the best ones around. For good measure, there are even rumors of the company planning a foldable smartphone. The new Nokia 9.2 may be out within the first half of 2020 if these rumors are be believed.
The Optics Section May Find a New Partner
The speculation is that Nokia may seek out a new optics partner. The name of Toshiba is mentioned for the camera section. The Light Camera technology may not be applied in the new smartphone being planned by Nokia, according to this rumor.
Though there are no additional details available on the Nokia 9.2, the rumor is that the display will be bezel-free and that the camera in the rear would have a 48MP shooter as the primary sensor. It could be a lower at 32MP as well. The other speculation is that the phone will not sport a 3.5mm jack and will have support for wireless charging.
Company Withholding Many Products
HMD Global reportedly had plans to launch a clutch of accessories like two smartwatches, a fitness tracker, a mini projector, a selfie light, a power bank and a mini printer. It is learned that these products will not be launched soon. There’s only one confirmation directly from the company and that says a 5G phone will be launched by HMD Global at MWC 2020 and the processor onboard will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 SoC.
Currently, the company is facing issues in making shipments out of China in view of the health issue in that country that has seen many cities being locked down.
