HMD Global has started making the stable Android 10 update available to its Nokia 8.1 handsets. The latest update of the build, Version 415B, was launched under the developer preview. This was released following multiple revisions starting from 4070. The file size is 1448.7MB and comes in zip format along with the Android security patch for September 2019.

Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, announced on his Twitter page the rollout of the Android update. The tweet went on to add that Nokia 8.1 is the first handset with a Qualcomm Snapdragon SD710 chipset to receive the upgrade.

There was also a special mention of the operating system to support new features like Gesture Navigation, Dark Theme and more. Sarvikas also included a video by HMD Global titled “Welcome to the latest wave of innovation”. It also showcased the front and rear views of the phone with the caption “Android 10 now available for Nokia 8.1”.
Interesting Features of Nokia 8.1
The Nokia 8.1 was released globally as a mid-range handset in the last quarter of 2018. The smartphone houses a Full HD+ 6.18-inch display that has 2244 x 1080 pixels resolution. The processor has a clocking frequency of 2.2GHz along with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The handset also features a twin-camera setup along with a primary 12MP Sony sensor and a secondary 13MP ZEISS optics lens. The two snappers support multiple AI-based features like scene detection. The front shooter incorporates a 20MP sensor for video calls and selfies. The gadget also includes several connectivity options.
HMD Global is a Finnish company with exclusive rights for the Nokia brand via a licensing agreement. The company has been actively involved in marketing its handsets under this brand name since December 2016. These smartphones operate on Android One, following a partnership with Google.
In August 2019, Juho tweeted a timeline that gave fans an idea of Android 10 compatible handsets and when the update would be for them. The post also mentioned that the rollout would begin in the final quarter of 2019. The roadmap revealed that Nokia 8.1 would get the update in Q4 2019 and HMD Global has not deviated from this.
