Nokia 6, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 Gets Android P Update in August

One of the best things about owning a Nokia smartphone is the fact that you will never be left behind when it comes to operating system updates. HMD Global which is the company that owns Nokia announced back in May that all Nokia smartphones will receive the much-anticipated Android P operating system update.

Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 Sirocco Receive Android P Beta

To make things even better, HMD Global already started rolling out the beta version of Android P to the following Nokia smartphones: Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 Sirocco. On the downside of things, the beta update has arrived only in China and other regions need to wait a little more before they get it.

HMD Global Development Announcement

Even though it might be clear that HMD Global is determined to roll out Android P to all Nokia smartphones, the tech giant sent messages to fans that assured them they will receive the new operating system as soon as the public version starts rolling out.

In fact, Nokia Mobile Care sent an email to a Nokia fan with the following message: “All other Nokia devices are expected to get Android P on sometimes in August”. Therefore, HMD Global is making sure that the first generation of Nokia 2, Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 will receive the new update.

Consistent Updates

The only surprising thing about HMD Global’s latest announcement is that the first generation of Nokia smartphones are going to receive Android P. However, HMD Global hinted towards this back during the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018 event where it showed that all its smartphones will be moving to the Android One platform.

Face Unlock System

One of the best features that HMD Global is planning to release via an upcoming OTA (over the air) release is a face unlock system. This feature is going to arrive to four Nokia devices and it will make it easier for people to unlock them. Moreover, the four smartphones are Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6.

We should also mention that the four smartphones which are scheduled to receive the face unlocking feature have been recently launched in India and they all are bestsellers. Nokia 8 Sirocco which holds the title of being a flagship device is priced at RS 49,999 while the lower-end Nokia 6 costs RS 16,999.
