Final Fantasy 15 is one of the most popular video games out there, and Nintendo Switch users hoped to receive a version of it. However, Hajima Tabata, the game’s director managed to kill the fans’ hope. Recently he offered some declarations that seem to confirm what most fans already feared: Final Fantasy 15 won’t come to Nintendo Switch. At least, not in the close future.
The director declared that they are doing some tests, but the results are not too good: “Where we are at the moment – we’ve completed those tests and have worked out where the ground lies. We’re currently in the middle of the discussion and debate about what we should be doing, and how to realize that on the Switch. We’re actually doing very specific technical investigations into what’s possible at the moment.”
When Tabata was finally asked if the game is coming to Switch he offered a sad answer “We shouldn’t cause trouble with other companies, but I am going to say this bluntly. We have ‘no’ plans at this current time to release FFXV on the Switch.”
There may be some hope in the future
While Tabata admitted that they won’t release FFXV on the Switch anytime soon, he agreed that things might change in the future: “I won’t deny the possibility of the future, but really we really honestly don’t have any plans.”
Therefore, FFXV still have some reasons to hope. Tabata-san also added that the Switch is a great device and apparently the team appreciates it: “Never the less, the Switch is a hardware that we love as well. We are however testing to see what can be made and the technology at this time. Currently we are using an engine that we have created and we are considering whether if we should continue to optimise the engine for the hardware or it’s better to use Epic’s Unreal Engine.”
