Nintendo Switch Online Service Update with New Features

Today, Nintendo released some more information about the Nintendo Switch’s online service. From what it seems, the service will cost $20 a year and it will be released sometime next year. Until the official launch of the service, it will be free to play Switch games online. Moreover, you can also enjoy a subscription for one month, which costs $4, and one for three months, which is $8.

Interesting Features

As the developer previously declared, the Switch itself will not be compatible with voice chat and other online lobby features. Instead of this, you have to use them with the help of a smartphone app that will supposedly be launched this summer. The company said that the dedicated smart device app will represent the connection to Nintendo Switch. With it, you will be able to invite friends to play online, to set appointments for playing, as well as chat with friends during online matches inside the games which are compatible, and all this with just a smart device. Moreover, this summer you will be able to download a free and limited version of this particular app.

Nintendo also declared that the subscribers will have access to the free versions of the most popular classic games, such as Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario and Super Mario Bros. 3. What’s more interesting is the fact that they will come with some new added online features. Before that, the developers said that those who subscribe for this will have access to a new game every month, but as far as things are now, it seems that their plans have changed.

Later on, they also said that indeed their plans changed, declaring for Kotaku that those who subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online service will have constant access to an entire library of classic games, complete with online play.
