Nintendo Switch brings Nintendo back in the Spotlight

When you think about the main two console powerhouse providers you think of Sony and Microsoft. They being the companies which provide us with gaming consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. Their dominance on the market has been quite significant in the last few years and they did seem to be increasingly popular, but someone else seems to have entered the fray.

Nintendo managed to re-appear in the public light with the release of the Nintendo Switch, and it seems to be quite a powerful competitor. Reports show that a survey done in the US revealed us an increasing interest in the Nintendo Switch, to the detriment of the PS4 Pro and the soon to be released Project Scorpio by Microsoft. Nielsen Games 360 Report is an annual survey that seeks to research how the citizens in the US react to various changes in the gaming world.

Information from the popular media website IGN tells us that from 2,000 participants, 13 years old gamers are leaning more towards the Nintendo Switch in a percentage of 16%, while the PS4 and the Scorpio got only 15% and 13% respectively. It should be taken into consideration that the report does not place the PS4 and PS4 Pro and the Xbox One and Scorpio in the same bag, they are differentiated. The survey shows that gamers are more interested in the standard editions of the consoles, with interest in the more high-end versions being less by comparison. For example, in the survey 21% of the gamers are more interested in purchasing the normal PS4 console, while the Xbox One got a respectable 17%.

Overall, Nintendo managed to sell approximately 2.74 million Switch consoles just in the first month since their release. Remarkably, they even had to result to shipping their consoles using airplanes due to increased demands from the consumers.
