A lot of companies, especially the ones involved in the manufacturing of electronic goods, suffered in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis. According to different reports and surveys, the smartphone industry saw a decline of around 15%. Apple and Samsung were two companies that managed to register steady sales. Their business did get affected like other global companies but they managed to keep the situation under control to a great extent. They launched a bunch of products towards the end of 2020 and that helped the companies get a certain amount of boost.
However, the aforementioned companies were not the only ones that braved the Covid-19 crisis and emerged triumphantly. The Nord phones launched by OnePlus also saw good sales coming their way. The phones sold well, especially in the United States.
‘Wave7 Research’, which brought to the fore the fact that OnePlus managed to sell more than 2 million Nord phones during this financial year at Metro. Every year, Metro manages to sell around 15 million devices. By selling more than 2 million units, OnePlus has contributed to its overall sales quite significantly. The sales have been stable so far and the share is bound to increase with time.
There are a couple of reasons that one could attribute to the high sales of the OnePlus Nord Phones. It offers good specifications and a wide range of high-end features. While doing this, it also ensures that its pricing remains within the ‘affordability’ bracket. Metro is offering the Nord N10 5G at $299 and the N100 is being sold at $179.
Wave 7, in a statement given to PC Mag, also stated that the primary reason behind the success of the phones is the fact that it packs in good specifications and is being sold at an affordable price. As per Wave 7, OnePlus’ Nord line has also registered very impressive sales at T-Mobile. Some of the other budget devices by the company have been put up for sale at BestBuy. That has further helped the company and its brands gain further visibility.
The data provided by Wave 7 seems to resonate with the data put together by Counter Point Research which stated that the success of the OnePlus phones has provided some hope to businesses in the present scenario.
2020 turned out to be quite an eventful year for OnePlus and the next step for the company could be the introduction of the OnePlus 9 in the market. The launch is expected to happen sometime during the spring season. According to reports, the smartphone will have a Hasselblad camera branding and could be also available in a ‘lite’ variant.
