For at least the first half of 2021, the Huawei P series is touted to be the flagship smartphone series by Huawei. The company usually makes an official announcement about producing such phones closer to the time when the Mobile World Congress or MWC as it is commonly referred to, is organized. That being said, the Covid-19 crisis disrupted the plans many companies had for the production or launch of their products. Some companies had to halt their production processes and some had to postpone the launch of a particular product.
Because of the prevailing situation, Huawei also had to make some changes in its plan of launching the next-generation Huawei P50. The upcoming smartphone series might arrive much later than its predecessor. While there is some time for the official announcement to happen, some information has been received about these upcoming smartphones.
A tipster, who goes by the username @RODENT950 on Twitter and is known to have good sources in Huawei, has claimed that the soon-to-be-launched Huawei P50 series will feature three models. If one remembers, the Huawei P40 series which came out last year also included three models. The three models, which were released simultaneously, were received quite well. Perhaps, that is what prompted Huawei to release three models at one go for the P50 series.
Huawei P50, Huawei P50 Pro, and Huawei P50 Pro+ – these are three models which the China-based telecom company will launch as a part of the Huawei P50 package. The names of the models are a clear indication of what they offer and their pricing as well.
The leaker also stated that the regular model of P50 will be the new Lite model and run on the HiSilicon Kirin 9000E SoC. The P50 Pro model will be seen as the new standard model and the P50 Pro+ will be considered to be the Pro model. While the P50 Pro and P50 Pro+ model will have the HiSilicon Kirin 9000 chipset, the regular P50 model will not be featuring it.
The leaker did not stop at that. He dropped another big news about the P50 series. According to him, the design of these three models has already been finalized and they will soon be sent for mass-production. He further stated that some of the major selling points of the P50 series will be the quality of their display screen, gaming capabilities, and new ultra-sensing camera system.
