A couple of days back, Motorola had launched the Motorola Edge S in the market. The smartphone runs on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. Even before its release, there was a good amount of buzz about the phone and many were looking forward to it upon its release. Yesterday, the Motorola Edge S was officially made available for sale in China.
If one went by the initial response it has garnered in the Chinese market, the smartphone is all set to have an excellent run in other regions too. After the phone was made available for sale in the market, Motorola announced that Motorola Edge S has managed to register record sales in the Chinese market. According to the company, more than 10,000 units of the smartphone were sold in the first two minutes after it was put up for sale.
The Motorola Edge S is available in two different color variants – Emerald Light and Emerald Glaze. When it comes to the configuration, you get as many as three different options to choose from – 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. The first one costs 1,999 yuan (~$310), the second variant is priced at 2,399 yuan (~$371) and the third option could be bought at 2,799 yuan (~$433).
The specifications of the phone are quite good and in line with the latest technology. It has a 6.7-inch LCD display offering a screen resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels, a 21:9 aspect ratio, and a 90Hz refresh rate. Featuring a DCI-P3 color gamut and a pixel density of 409 PPI, it supports HDR10.
One of the biggest selling points of this product is that it is the first smartphone to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. It also boasts of an LPDDR5 RAM which happens to be 72% faster than its predecessor LPDDR4. It also has the UFS 3.1 storage which is 25% faster than UFS 3.0.
The rear end of the phone features a quad-camera setup that includes a 16MP 121-degree ultrawide angle lens, a 64MP f/1.7 primary sensor, a ToF camera lens, and a 2MP depth-sensing camera.
The front-end of the camera features a 16MP sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The smartphone operates on the MY UI custom interface. This particular interface is based on the Android 11 operating system which was launched a while back. It also offers standard support for Motorola’s gestures. The device features a 5,000mAh battery and supports 20W fast charging.
