Samsung Galaxy A41 – Leaked Renders Reveal Design and a few Specs

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy A41 Display

The next Galaxy A series smartphone from Samsung is likely to be the Samsung Galaxy A41. New renders of this device have surfaced and these give a 360° view of the device and allow you to guess some of the specifications. Not much details of the smartphone have been revealed so far and most of it is in the realm of speculation.

Display Size Likely to be 6-inches Plus

Based on the renders, the display size can be gauged to be 6 to 6.1-inches. The renders clearly indicate it’s an Infinity U type of display with a notch in it. As for the bezels, it can be seen that there is a wider bottom chin while the sides have very thin bezels. When you move to the rear, there is the rectangular bump on one corner for the rear camera setup. The material of the panel appears to be made of polycarbonate.

The speculation on the camera arrangement is that it would have a 48MP primary sensor, though the details of the other two lenses in the triple camera setup is not clear. The other deduction you can easily make is that there is no fingerprint scanner on the back panel. The predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy A40, had one. That can only mean that Samsung would fit an under-display fingerprint sensor on the Samsung Galaxy A41.

As for the other details from the renders, you cannot miss the power on/off button and the volume rocker to one side and the SIM tray on the other. If you move to the bottom edge, there will be the 3.5mm audio jack, the speaker and the USB-C type port.

Other Rumored Specifications

The only other bit of information about the Samsung Galaxy A41 is from Geekbench, where a Samsung device with the moniker SM-A415F was found. Assuming that it is the same phone, you can say the Samsung Galaxy A41 smartphone will be powered by a Helio P65 chipset and RAM support of 4GB. The onboard storage may be in two variants, 64GB and 128GB and the Android 10 OS with the corresponding One UI will be the OS. The front camera is rumored to be 25MP and the battery 3,500mAh.

What remains to be seen is when Samsung plans to launch the device. It could be as soon as March itself.

Samsung Display Will Stop LCD Display Production by the End of 2020

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy
  • Samsung will not produce LCD panels from 2021 onwards
  • The four lines, two in China and two in S. Korea will be closed by the end of 2020
  • All existing orders will be supplied to the companies

What is the Development?

The company operates 2 liquid crystal display (LCD) panel production lines in South Korea and 2 more in China. These production lines will now be completely shut down and, in their place, Samsung plans to start making the latest technology screens using quantum dot technologies. However, that might not happen immediately as the investment now is to start the quantum dot screens on one of these lines in South Korea.

LCD panels have been going out of fashion for some time. Apple, one of Samsung’s largest customers, had already switched to the OLED panels for their iPhone range except for the budget model. From this year, the expectation is that all iPhone models will sport the OLED panels only. The falling demand could have been one of the major reasons for Samsung’s decision to close down the LCD panel production.

Samsung

The OLED panels have virtually pushed the LCD panels out of sight

What about the Orders Already in Hand?

The company has clarified that the actual closing down of the LCD production lines will occur only towards the end of this year and till then whatever orders they have in hand will be produced and supplied. Smartphone companies plan far ahead for their models and the orders for the parts and components are placed months if not years in advance.

What Next?

As indicated, while one set of displays is shifting towards OLED, the others like television screens are turning to quantum dot technology. The construction of this display screen is such that it can emit light in a narrow spectrum and they are not very different from the conventional LCD panels. The quantum tube is an addition and it joins the LED lights in providing the backup to the display.

The report indicates that Samsung is yet to take a call on the future of the two production lines in China which will become idle by the year end. However, it may be the end of the road for LCD display panels, at least on smartphones.

iPhone 12 Release Schedule May Not be Impacted by the Current Crisis: Bloomberg

Published

on

Apple-iphone-12
  • Apple follows much longer scheduling for its products and will not have any issue with the launch.
  • Foxconn has had a rough Q4 2019 in terms of financial results; maybe even worse in Q1, 2020.
  • Apple’s products beyond the iPhone 12 could get impacted.

Dispelling most rumors which claimed that Apple may have to postpone the launch of its iPhone 12 and other models along with it this fall, a new report says there won’t be any change. This more or less confirms some other reports which had quoted supply chain sources, mainly Foxconn, to say that though production in their China factories was disrupted they have since resumed operations. On the argument that Foxconn may not be the only source for Apple, it is being pointed out that the US giant plans and implements its launch programs months and years in advance and this 2- or 3-month disturbance in China would not have a serious impact.

Foxconn Posts Reduced Profits for Q4 of 2019

Quoting the figures filed by Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (which is the name of the company that is more popularly known as Foxconn), the report says the company’s performance had already taken a hit before the Coronavirus crisis occurred. The figures indicate that the company posted 24% less net income for the quarter of October to December 2019 as compared to the same quarter the previous year. There are no prizes for guessing what the figures will look like for the first quarter of this year January to March 2020.

The company is trying to broad-base its production facilities by setting up units in countries like India and Vietnam. This decision was taken even before the current Coronavirus crisis since the US-China trade stand-off had been affecting its business. The figures indicated above are mostly because of this issue, though the general slowing down of demand for smartphones has also been a reason. Foxconn draws a large portion of its revenue from Apple and the US company itself had been facing reverses. Hon Hai has indicated that its revenues will be hit hard in the first quarter.

The current estimate is that some of the devices Apple has planned for 2021 may be delayed due to the disruptions in the manufacturing activities in China and many other parts of the world due to the pandemic. The situation in the US is assuming alarming proportions and there is uncertainty all around.

GTA 6 – A Fake Video on the Game Whets the Appetite of the Fans Even More

Published

GTA-6
  • There’s a countdown that ends on April 1, 2020, showing the time till the announcement on GTA 6.
  • A fake video makes an appearance on March 29, giving the same message with all appearance as if it is from Rockstar.
  • Fans realize the whole thing is a fake exercise and vent their feelings.

As if the expectation levels among the GTA 6 fans were not already high, a new fake video featuring the Weekend song, posted on the streaming platform Twitch, took it to another level before they realized it was not for real. This once again goes to show how desperate the gaming community can get when it comes to GTA 6 and their desire to see it released. Rockstar has not been moved a bit by all this.

Disappointments Galore for the GTA 6 Fans

It all started a few days earlier when it was informed that there will be an important announcement coming from Rockstar on March 25, 2020. However, no announcement came. There is another countdown going on within the Twitch platform with an account GTAVI. This says the countdown is for an announcement. This again led to a volley of comments online before someone pointed out that the countdown ends on April 1. The day is called All Fools Day and a lot of people play pranks that day, basically aimed at fooling a large body of people. To top these came the fake video, also on Twitch. The fact is Rockstar does have an official account on the platform but this was from an unknown profile.

The Fake GTA 6 Announcement Video

This video, posted by one Troydan, has a title, YOOO GTA 6 IS COMING! The video is for just 1 minute but has content for around 50 seconds only. There is the Weekend song in the background and the official Rockstar logo flashes followed by the GTA VI logo. It just says in an all-bold line “2DAYS TILL ANNOUNCEMENT” and that’s it. Does this mean there is some link between the April 1 countdown and this fake video?

Fans Let Out Their Dejection Online

Once it struck home that they are being taken for a jolly ride by the prankster, the GTA 6 fans took to all forums available online to vent out their feelings. Some almost cried saying how lies are being circulated. It must be conceded that most of whatever information has so far been posted on the launch announcement has been just speculation. The only piece of information that can be relied upon is the one on the voice actor from Mexico, Jorge Consejo having played “The Mexican” in GTA 6. Even that is neither here nor there since he is said to have done the recording in 2018 and cannot be tied to any immediate launch announcement.
