OnePlus is synonymous with creating great flagship phones at affordable pricing. The fact that they managed to stay relevant this long against Samsung and Apple proves their mettle. The upcoming OnePlus 6 is going to be a groundbreaking launch in every way and will be an able contender for the Apple iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9. Here is a summary of all that we know so far.
OnePlus 6 Model Number, Name and Initial Promos
The manufacturer follows a simple pattern of numbering for their phones every year but there were the OnePlus 3T and the OnePlus 5T which were incremental upgrades. Before it was officially confirmed, the phone was identified with the model number A6000. They later confirmed the same with a quick teaser on Twitter with the caption “6et ready” that confirmed that it is indeed going to be called the OnePlus 6. Similarly, the company also confirmed Gesture controls and Notification slider in a few tweets.

The phone is very close to the actual release date as the CEO of the company revealed some of the hardware specifications in the official blog. While he didn’t explicitly confirm the date, we can make some speculations based on previous launches. The OnePlus 3 launched in June 2016 and the OnePlus 5 in June 2017 but the OnePlus 6 may get launched earlier in the month of May. The rumors are too many but it’s just a speculation and who knows, the company might still push the date to June this year. In addition to this, there would also be an Avengers variant of OnePlus 6 this year.
OnePlus 6 Hardware Specs: What to Expect?
The OnePlus 6 does feature a top-notch which albeit smaller than the Apple iPhone X, is still there. It was confirmed when leaked photographs of the phone popped online and it left a lot of users impressed. Many opined that they don’t like top notch which led to the company confirming that a future software update will allow users to completely hide the top notch if they don’t want to see it.
Based on the official OnePlus forum post, it has been confirmed that the phone will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor combined with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space on the top end variant. The new phone has a strong focus on speed, response, and lag-free usage. They are aiming to help you find what you need quickly, make the phone responsive and fix a lot of things on the software front to make it a reliable device.
The rumor mill also claims the phone may have a glass back which makes it slippery but it would support wireless charging, if true. The Dash Charge which saves time and helps you charge the battery quickly will be further improvised in the new model.
Along with OnePlus 6, a pair of wireless headphones named OnePlus Bullets Wireless could also be launched during official announcement.
OnePlus 6 Design: What’s New?
The OnePlus 6 design is quite similar to the older models yet it’s unique and stylish but there’s the iPhone X top notch which the designers say will work seamlessly. The phone’s bezel-less display will be hogged by the small notch which has been tested with nearly 1,000 apps and works seamlessly if we are to believe their words. While it does have Face ID unlock, the phone continues to use the fingerprint scanner in the back making it easier for you to unlock the device any time.
OnePlus 6 Camera and Display
The phone sports a large 6.2-inch OLED display which has a unique aspect ratio of 19:9. A dual camera setup is found on the rear which includes a 16-megapixel and a 20-megapixel camera whereas the front is dominated by the 20-megapixel camera. All these are purely speculations and information gathered through multiple leaks which we can confirm only when the official announcement is made. The OnePlus 6 will retain the 3.5mm audio jack and will use a 3,450 mAh which should theoretically last an entire day on full charge.
OnePlus 6: Expected Release Date and Pricing
The OnePlus 6 could get launched with a price tag of $749 and it’s not cheap as it used to be but when it offers iPhone X and Galaxy S9-like flagship features, the manufacturers have to bump the price tag. Based on their previous launch schedule, the phone could get launched in June or possibly earlier.
