WhatsApp is going to release several notification channels for those using Android 8.0 Oreo or above. This option will allow users to customize notifications and there will be 10 notification channels: chat history, critical app alerts, group notifications, failure notifications, media playback, sending media, silent notifications, uncategorized and other notifications.

AndroidPolice reported that these notifications channels will each have its own settings and they can be customized separately. Users will be able to prioritize notifications as per their importance.
When users want to change the notification using the notification channels, they can wait until they get one, tap and hold it and then choose the option that disables it.
To change the priority of any notifications, it is necessary to head to All Categories and explore the notification channel settings page.

Those who own an Android device running on 8.0 Oreo can head to Google Play Store and enroll into the beta tester program. All they have to do is to sing up and in just a few minutes, WhatsApp v2.18.18 will become available.
The newest update also allows users to set a text-only update on their profile by simply tapping Settings and the Profile Name. Also, it is easier to choose the perfect GIF by tappin the emoji button in a chat and then the GIF button.
