When it comes to messaging applications, WhatsApp can be considered the most popular one at the moment. With over one billion users, and numerous new features, the app is number one right now. However, another applications begins to grow quite fast. Telegram is a chat app that comes with some impressive functions and it managed to reach 100 million users from all over the world.

It appears that these two apps have been borrowing applications from each other, which can only benefit the users. However, it is time to compare them and see which one wins this battle.

Chat features

At first Telegram used WhatsApp features at first, but the app evolved enough to add its own. In fact, it became original enough and it managed to surpass the source of inspiration. Now Telegram has all the basic functions but it also allows users to use bots, send location in real time and send stickers. WhatsApp does not have these features right now. Both applications can be used to send text, GIFs, emojis, videos and photos and also files such as DOC, TXT, and PDF.

Web version

Telegram wins once again. While WhatsApp allows you to chat from a computer, you will need your phone connected to the Internet. Instead, Telegram will allow you to log in normally, so you won’t need your phone.

Here, the applications are equal since both of them are very secure and your messages are encrypted point to point. This means that no one is able to access the conversations, except for the sender and receiver of those messages.

However, if you lose your phone, you won’t be able to activate your account unless you have another smartphone. This does not happen with Telegram, since you can access it online.
