Why would you buy an older smartphone? Well, firstly, it’s cheaper than when it was launched, having half price off original cost, and secondly, there are many high-end 2014 phones which are better than the mid-range devices that have been released this year. In this article we’ll compare the Nexus 6 beast with the weaker Lenovo K900.
Designs and Displays
Last year, Google released a phablet and a tablet. The phablet was manufactured by Motorola, which used the design style of the Moto X 2014 flagship, only that the plastic back was available in only two colors: Midnight Blue and Cloud White. The body is protected against water, but you shouldn’t test its limits, because it doesn’t last too long under water. The phone has dual front facing speakers and a dimple on the back, with the M logo engraved inside. The dimensions are 159.3x83x10.1 mm, the weight is 184 grams and the screen is AMOLED, sized at 5.96inches, which is able to offer a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels at 493ppi.
The Lenovo K900 is very slim and features a brushed metal body. There are four snow-shape screws which are placed on the corners of the back cover, and besides the black and gray shades, there is another orange one. The device has three capacitive buttons below the IPS LCD 5.5-inch screen with a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 401ppi. Also, the dimensions of the Lenovo K900 are 157x78x6.9mm and the weight is 162grams.
The internal hardware of the Nexus 6 is way more advanced, consisting of the fastest 32bit Snapdragon 805 processor from Qualcomm, which has four cores running at 2.7GHz. The device has been equipped with an Adreno 420 GPU and supports 3GB of RAM, while the storage options are 32GB and 64GB, but Motorola hasn’t added a microSD card slot for extra space.
The Lenovo K900 features a weaker Intel Atom Z2580 dual-core 2 GHz processor which is backed by PowerVR SGX544MP2 graphics and 2GB of RAM and it doesn’t support expansion either, for the internal memories of 16GB and 32GB.
Cameras and Batteries
Both pairs of cameras have resolutions of 13MP and 2MP respectively, only that the Nexus 6 has in addition OIS and HDR, and it can record 2160p videos @30fps.
The battery of the Lenovo K900 is smaller at 2500mAh, having no chance to stand against the massive 3220mAh battery that powers up the Nexus 6. Also, Quick Charge 2.0 is a feature that is available on the latest Qualcomm processors, and it can charge the battery from 0% to 60% in 30 minutes.
