The gloves are off!  ComedySportz, the international short-form comedy competition, is bringing their 2010 World Championship to Philadelphia July 15th-17th!  Teams from around the country and the world will convene in the City of Brotherly Love to go toe-to-toe on the comedic battleground.  In the vein of the hit show Who’s Line is it Anyway?, ComedySportz features two teams performing short-form improv comedy, vieing for points and laughs in a highly interactive show.  The audience votes for the winners and a referee governs the action, handing out penalties for particularly egregious puns and groaners.  CSz puts on some of the fastest paced and funniest shows you’ll ever see!

The World Championships will take place at World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.  There are shows at 7pm and 9:30pm on July 15th, 16th, and 17th.  Each show will feature 4 different CSz teams competing against each other, all culminating in the championship show on Saturday, July 17th at 9:30pm.  Thursday, Friday, and the early Saturday shows cost $18 each, $15 for students (student tickets are available only in person and with a student ID).  The championship show costs $21 each, $18 for students.  If you want to see BOTH the 7pm and 9:30pm shows in one night, it costs just $34 each, $28 for students.  OR, if want a whole weekend pass, it just costs $100 a person, $90 for students.  What a deal!  Ticket information can be found at World Cafe Live’s website.  And most importantly, all the proceeds from these shows will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Delaware Valley Chapter!

ComedySportz was founded in 1986 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and quickly spread throughout the country like a virus whose only side effect is gut-busting laughter.  CSz Philadelphia started in 1993 and has been putting on great shows ever since.  With a roster of 39 of the city’s best improvisers, CSz Philly performs twice every Saturday at the Black Box at the Adrienne Theater, 2030 Sansom Street.  Go out to these shows and support your local ComedySportz team!  Let’s beat those lousy Milwaukinians!
