No, not even the Democratic Socialist Party. Republicans want to take away the “ic” because they don’t think Dems believe in…well, I’m not sure exactly, but they’ don’t believe in something!
A member of the Republican National Committee told me Tuesday that when the RNC meets in an extraordinary special session next week, it will approve a resolution rebranding Democrats as the “Democrat Socialist Party.â€
When I asked if such a resolution would force RNC Chairman Michael Steele to use that label when talking about Democrats in all his speeches and press releases, the RNC member replied: “Who cares?â€
Which pretty much sums up the attitude some members of the RNC have toward their chairman these days.
Oddly enough, Michael Steele opposes the measure, but as you can tell from the statement above…nobody in the Republican party cares. So you’ll probably see Steele even further marginalized or kicked out completely in the near future. And everybody is better off if that happens anyway. Republicans obviously aren’t ready to move forward.
But swinging back to “Democrat Socialist Party”…really?
This is what Republicans think will swing independents over into their camp? Officially approving a resolution that amounts to childish name calling?
What a complete and utter implosion. It’s like watching a car smash into a brick wall going 120 miles an hour in super slow motion.
