New Leaks Reveal Motorola Z3 Play 6.1-inch Display, Dual Cameras and More

The Moto Z3 Play might represent a comeback for Motorola. The device is the next flagship, and while Motorola is expected to reveal a wide range of devices this year, this one got our attention. The phone is a promising one, and we already received many details about it. After the renders we received last month, new leaks became available. That is why we decide to take all the information and put it in one place. Let’s see what we have so far.

Side mounted fingerprint scanner

There were multiple pictures leaked when it comes to the Moto Z3 Play. Some of the first leaks showed us an important detail about the device. The images showed us the design of the device, and the first thing we noticed is that it does not come with a cut-out for a rear fingerprint scanner. Instead, the Moto Z3 Play decided to move it to the right side of the device, which is something that we have also seen at Sony.

The scanner is placed bellow two volume up and down keys, and on the opposite side, we can notice the power button for the phone. Then, we also have the USB Type-C connector that is placed at the bottom. It appears that Motorola has also decided to remove the 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Motorola Z3 Play: Display

The Moto Z3 Play will come with an 18:9 display which is something that we have seen quite often at numerous smartphones on the market. The 6.1-inch screen comes with a 1080 x 2160 resolution. If we look up, we can also see the selfie camera that is placed next to an in-ear speaker, as well as other extras such as the proximity sensor. If you look down, you can see the microphone, as well as the Motorola branding.

Design

We couldn’t see too many details when it comes to the design, but it is believed that the Moto Z3 Play will come with a body that is made out of glass. If we look at the back side, we can see that there is a circular camera module which has a dual-camera setup, as well as the dual-tone,  LED flash.

The rear panel also has magnetic strips at the bottom. These magnetic strips are used to attach the Moto Mods to the phone.

Specs

If we take a look at its abilities, we can see that the Moto Z3 Play comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 processor. According to some sources, the device will also have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The battery is supposed to be a 3,000 mAh one. The smartphone is even supposed to run Android Oreo.

No physical home button

The new Moto Z3 Play will abolish the physical home button that was usually placed at the bottom. The Z2 Play was quite popular back in the days, and this change might be a controversial one. However, the new Z3 updates a couple of things, from the size of the display to the design.

Moto Mods

If you are worried about Motorola removing features from the Moto Z3 Play, you might be happy to hear that Moto Mods won’t go away. You can continue to use them in order customize the modules of the phone, even the JBL’s snap-on speaker.

Moto Mods are some modular accessories that were released at the same time as the phone. With other phones, users had to physically remove the bottom of the phone to swap out modules. However, that is not the case with Motorola.

The modules stay attached to the phone by using some powerful magnets. It is effortless to use them, and you won’t have any problems when it comes to adding or removing them. Every module has its battery, and you can charge them as they are equipped with a USB-C charging port.

Motorola Z3 Play Cameras

The phone comes with a selfie camera that can be seen up top, while on the rear side, it has a circular dual-camera setup, the same as the Moto Z2 Play. At this moment it is believed that the cameras on the rear will consist of 12-megapixel primary sensor and 8-megapixel sensor. The front camera is supposed to have a 5-megapixel sensor. Next, to the rear camera set up, we can also see the Motorola brand logo. This is not the first time Motorola introduces a dual camera setup to the Play series.

Release Date and Price

There aren’t many official details when it comes to the release date, but since the Moto Z2 Play was released last year at the beginning of June, it wouldn’t surprise us if its successor would be launched in the same time of the year. Other Motorola devices were already launched, including one in Brazil, back in April. That is why the Moto Z3 is supposed to come out at one point these months.

If you are wondering about the price, you should know that the Z family represents the premium line, but the Play devices are the cheaper models. In the past, we could also see a Z Force variant that had a higher price, but also a more powerful processor. The cost for the Moto Z3 Play remains unknown, but it might help to know that the Moto Z2 Play launched at $499 (£379).
