Motorola is ready to revamp its entire line-up following their successful endeavors with Moto G and Moto Z smartphones. The company’s newest phone will be a 5G-enabled device which will also sport a curved waterfall display. With a 90Hz refresh rate, it is expected to be fluid when in motion and leaked renders showcase a beautiful phone in the making.
Motorola One 2020 is the nickname that is being used to identify the new era of smartphones the company is building at the moment. Curved displays are of different types and Samsung Galaxy phones, OnePlus 7 Pro among others make use of this technology to provide a premium experience. Despite being great to look at, these phones are fragile and require massive cases in order to protect the curved edges.
Motorola’s Waterfall 90Hz Display
The term waterfall refers to curved displays that are explicitly smooth on the edges. There are very few models like the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Vivo Nex 3 5G. The new Motorola 5G phone’s design was leaked by XDA Max Weinbach who confirmed that Moto is playing it safe in the curvature but it still looks more like a waterfall design that is seldom found in smartphones due to durability reasons.
Following Samsung’s route, the device also uses a small punch hole camera on the left edge which is non-intrusive and is said to be made on LCD displays. While 90Hz is not as high as 120Hz displays found on OnePlus flagship devices, it still works great because of the full HD+ resolution and the 90Hz refresh rate to save battery whenever possible.
Moto Racer 5G?
The model is being internally called the Moto Racer 5G or Racer Turbo for identification which will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 or 765G processor. Going for a Snapdragon 865 might make it a flagship device and much more expensive than it should be to fall into the mid-tier category. Another model codenamed Burton may have the 865 processor. The larger device named Moto Edge+ is expected to sport a large 5,170 mAh battery.
While vanilla Android with very minimal tweaks is a signature move for Motorola, they are expected to bring in new features including Moto Edge Assistant to support the waterfall curved display, Moto Gametime for gamers and Moto Audio to manage the sound quality.
The Motorola One 5G 2020 smartphones are ready in multiple variants for the US, Europe and other parts of the world under different codenames for carriers. They are expected to be unveiled at MWC 2020 but the pricing is yet to be known.
