Recently, a leak surfaced detailing what Motorola has in store for its Edge 40 series. It is expected that the vanilla Edge 40 model will be a brand new device, while the Pro version will be a global variant of China's X40.

The vanilla Edge 40 will be a mid-ranger with the new Dimensity 8020 chipset, whereas the Edge 40 Pro will be based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Edge 40 will come with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and storage options of either 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1.

The device will feature a curved AMOLED display with a 6.55-inch panel and a high refresh rate of 144Hz. The 8-bit panel of the Edge 40 is slightly lower than the Pro's 10-bit and a larger 6.67-inch panel.

The camera setup of the Edge 40 is expected to include a 50MP main module with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. In comparison, the Pro model will feature a 50+50+12MP setup with a 2x zoom lens. The front-facing camera on the Edge 40 will be lower resolution at 32MP.

The battery size of the Edge 40 is set at 4,400mAh, slightly smaller than the Pro's 4,600mAh. It will support both wired (68W) and wireless (15W) charging. The Pro model will come with 125/15W charging. Both models will have IP68 dust and water resistance.

The Moto Edge 40 will be available in four launch colors: Eclipse Black, Nebula Green, Lunar Blue, and Viva Magenta. Two of the colors will have a vegan leather back, and the other two will have a matte acrylic finish. The frame will be made of aluminum, but the type of glass on the front is unknown.

According to unconfirmed sources, the base model of Edge 40 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage will cost €600 ($650/₹53,500), whereas the flagship Edge 40 Pro will cost €900 ($980/₹80,500). To compare, the Edge 30 and Edge 30 Pro were priced at €450 and €800 during their launch.
