Motorola may pip Samsung to the marketplace by launching its iconic Razr flip phone in a new smartphone avatar. The Razr is being launched in the US market through Verizon. The unlocked phone can be purchased from Walmart and Motorola’s own website. Pre-orders for the device start on January 26.
Motorola Razr Priced at $1,499
The Motorola Razr flip phone will be sold at a market price of $1,499. Some feel that this pricing is steep for a device that will be operated on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC. The camera section with a single 16MP shooter and a 2,100mAh battery do not command that premium either. The company would have instead spent on the technology to offer a seamless display screen when the phone is flipped open and stretched. You get a 6.2-inch display in this position and should be comparable with any top range smartphone.
Specifications of the Phone
At first look, you will see a folded smartphone with almost the same look and feel of the old Razr with the small touchscreen Quick View display. It offers more than just notifications of incoming messages etc. It lets you take selfies without opening the main screen. You can wake up Google Assistant to get a few tasks done. You can also click photos with the rear 16MP camera with the phone in the folded position. Motorola has ensured a seamless shift from the Quick View display to the main display screen. This means that as you are seeing something on the outer display and flip the phone open, you can see the same information on the screen allowing you to navigate further and seek additional inputs. Motorola calls the larger 6.2-inch display as Flex View.
The single sensor is equipped with adequate support to let you click and edit photos of high quality. The folding hinge has been designed in a way that when the phone is folded, it sits perfectly at the bottom leaving you with a reasonably thin device.
Verizon has included several offers for the buyers of the Motorola Razr Flip foldable smartphone through it.
