A couple of days back, Motorola confirmed the arrival of the new Motorola Edge S on January 26. The company lived up to its promise and the device has finally received an official launch. Motorola officially announced the launch of the product at an event held in China earlier today. What makes this device special is the fact that it is the first-ever smartphone in the world to feature a Snapdragon 870 processor. There are several other exciting features that should make a lot of people want to check it out.
Those who have tested the phone already, vouch for its superlative performance. One of the things that the phone’s high-end performance could be attributed to is its big and powerful battery. Featuring as many as six cameras, the phone is a great buy for those who use their phones extensively to click high-quality pictures.
The Snapdragon 870 registers the fastest clock speed as compared to any other chipset available in the market at the moment. The premium-quality processor is definitely one of the biggest selling points for this processor. The chipset has been developed on TSMC’s 7nm process and features eight cores including the high-speed Cortex-A77, four highly efficient Cortex-A55, and three Cortex-A77.
The smartphone features a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a refresh rate of 105Hz and a 64MP primary camera. Many Samsung loyalists were expecting the Edge S to have specifications that are similar to the Motorola Edge+ like the 5,000mAh battery, a slightly curved OLED display, and a triple camera. While the phone has many features that would please, it wouldn’t meet some of the expectations they have from it.
For starters, the phone doesn’t feature a curved display screen. The screen is quite flat and has a double hole punch for two front-facing cameras. The rear end of the phone, though, is curved and features four cameras whose arrangement reminds you of the way a gas cooker is placed. The phone boasts of an NVCM coating and is being sold in two colors, Emerald Light and Emerald Glaze.
The resolution of the display screen is 2520 x 1080 and has a PPI of 409, HDR10, and a color gamut of DCI-P3. The Snapdragon 870 processor has proved to be more efficient than its predecessors. The CPU performance is expected to be 12% higher than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 865.
