Motorola Likely to Skip the Release of Moto G10 and Gear Up to Launch Moto G30

There are many electronic or smartphone brands that are known to spring up a surprise or two during the launch of a new product or model. They, perhaps, believe that doing things differently or adding a bit of shock value helps in marketing the product. Motorola was never a company that indulged in such gimmicks. However, in the last couple of years, they have created confusion and even a bit of unrest with their product line-up.

Recently, Motorola surprised everyone with its decision of not associating years or numbers with many of its products. Instead of that, the brand decided to prefix its products with ‘new’. The ‘new’, they believed, would be sufficient to signal the arrival of a new product in established lineups. Some of their devices (Moto G9, Moto G9 Play, Moto G9 Power) reflect their earlier preference of adding numbers and years to a product but some of their recent decisions clearly indicate a shift in their branding strategy.

Many were waiting for the arrival of a Moto G10 from Motorola. Well, here is a piece of information that will take them by surprise. Not a G10 or even a G11, Motorola is reportedly planning to launch a Moto G30. Rumors started surfacing when it was reported that a new Motorola device was screened by NBTC, Thailand’s certification authority. The model number of this device was XT2129 and it was branded or named as ‘Moto G30’. All this information points towards the fact the soon-to-be-launched device might be sold under the brand name ‘Moto G30’ in a few regions at least, if not globally.

Last year, TechniKNews had reported that Motorola is planning to launch two budget smartphones that will run on Android 11. Both the phones were said to launch in the first quarter of 2021. The two phones were being developed under the codename ‘Capri’ and the model numbers were XT2127 and XT2129. The model number of the Capri Plus is exactly the same as the number listed on the regulatory listing. Therefore, one could assume that this is the device that would be launched as Moto G30.

There is a fair amount of (unconfirmed) information about the upcoming smartphone. The Motorola XT2127/Capri is likely to feature a Snapdragon 460 SoC, 64GB storage, 4GB RAM, HD+ display, a 48MP primary rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and three additional cameras. Apart from dual SIMs, the phone will also support NFC.
