Motorola has always been a top notch mobile phone manufacturer, so we’re not surprised that the company is still on its feet even in this tricky day and age where smartphones are the most important market segment. Motorola is known for its premium-feeling affordable devices, and the Moto E4 and Moto G5 are no different. But is one better than the other? Let’s compare them and find out.
The Moto E4 actually replaced the Moto G5 on the American market, which makes the two phones virtually impossible to appropriately compare because you can’t get the G5 anymore, and that’s kind of disconcerting. But when taking a look at them side by side, it becomes totally understandable why the Moto E4 is replacing the Moto G5. The two phones are incredibly similar.
The Moto E4, however, is a bit lackluster when compared to the Moto G5, so this also indicates that it replaced it in order for Motorola to cut down on production costs. This is unfortunate, but it’s also understandable in this entirely complicated and aggressive economical context. At the end of the day, the Moto E4 has a slightly smaller and less capable chipset, as well as downgraded camera.
But the smartphone experience in its entirety doesn’t feel like a downgrade. So, realistically speaking, the Moto E4 and the Moto G5 are incredibly similar phones, but unfortunately, the better one was replaced by the one that is less powerful instead of the other way around. Still, it’s not a tragic change. In fact, it’s one with which we can easily live. Just get the Moto E4 and see for yourself. It’s a good phone.
