YouTube has become a media giant in the past years, and it can represent an easy way of creating content. As a consequence of that, many new tools have emerged, and they aim to make it easier to create videos.
As it turns out, Google is also planning to bring a brand new tool. Its name is Mobile Real-time Video Segmentation, and it appears that it is already being tested. This tool is an AI green screen one. If this technology succeeds, it should allow users to change the background of the video in real time.
How does it work?
This tool is supposed to identify the background parts that need to be replaced, and at the same time to leave the foreground unchanged. This could represent a major step forward for video makers everywhere, as they would not need any other special equipment.
When will it be released?
While this tool might represent a huge improvement, it might take some time until you will be able to use Mobile Real-time Video Segmentation. That is because this tool is only available for a couple of YouTube creators.
Therefore, we do not know for sure when it will be released for everyone, but it might take some time. Right now it appears that this technology does not work too well for fast-moving scenes.
“Today, we are excited to bring precise, real-time, on-device mobile video segmentation to the YouTube app by integrating this technology into stories. Currently in limited beta, stories is YouTube’s new lightweight video format, designed specifically for YouTube creators. Our new segmentation technology allows creators to replace and modify the background, effortlessly increasing videos’ production value without specialized equipment,” explained Google in a blog post recently.
