Micromax is coming back in the smartphone market with their new Canvas 2 device. What they are basically doing is restarting the line of smartphones that has helped build up the Indian company’s fame in the smartphone market segment. The USP that the phone comes equipped with is the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 2.5D, a USP that is not very common for phones of this price.
Currently, the Micromax Canvas 2 is priced at 11,999 rupees and comes shipped with a one-year guarantee for the screen. The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is apparently resistant enough to survive falls from over 1.5 meters. The screen also boasts in being scratch resistant. Airtel users will benefit from having limitless prepaid time and data. However, there is a weekly cap of 1500 minutes and a data limit of 1GB data per day.
The Micromax Canvas 2 will have a quad-core 1.3GHz Mediatek 6737 chipset, an internal storage capacity of 16GB and 3GB of RAM. It has an integrated finger print scanner. As for the battery, it will come equipped with a 3050mAh unit. To top it all off, Canvas 2 will be the first smartphone they will be releasing that comes with the Android Nougat. Physical characteristics are as follows. A thickness of 8.5mm and 160 grams in weight. The display is a 5-inch HD variant with a brightness capacity of 400 nits. Camera-wise, it will have a 13MP rear camera, and a 5MP selfie camera. Also, the color schemes available for the phone are Champagne and Chrome.
An interesting software addition is apparently a control panel where you will be able to access the most commonly utilized features.
With these specifications, Micromax seems to be attempting to bridge the gap between the 8,000 and 15,000 rupee smartphones available in the market in India.
