Rockstar Games has left people in the dark regarding their upcoming Grand Theft Auto title. There is a lot of hype regarding the new GTA 6 game with Reddit posts suggesting that it may be announced in 2020.
There are rumors that the next title in the Grand Theft Auto series may be a PlayStation 5 exclusive when launched. The game is also rumored to be set in two cities based on San Francisco and Las Vegas. There are also conflicting rumors suggesting that the game will take place in Vice City, which is a fictional version of Miami.
There’s a lot of speculation regarding GTA 6 and we can’t separate the wheat from the chaff at the moment. But finally, there may be some news that may help the fans wait until Rockstar announces the next GTA title.
Mafia and Mafia 2 Trademarks Renewed
Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take Two Interactive recently renewed trademarks for their two old titles – Mafia and Mafia 2 last month. This indicates that a remastered version of both versions of Mafia may be imminent.
Apart from the trademarks for the earlier versions of Mafia, there seems to be a third trademark, which may be for the upcoming Mafia 4 title from Rockstar Games. The font and typography of the trademark differ from the earlier titles and may be a placeholder for the new Mafia title.
The Mafia series of games hasn’t seen a new title since Mafia 3. A part of the reason is that Mafia 3 was not received by the gamers as expected.
The trademarks are required to be renewed by video game houses every ten years from the release date. The early renewal of the trademarks gives more evidence that a remastered version of Mafia 2 is in the works.
The remastered version has been asked for by fans and some unofficial remasters are already available for download. It makes sense for Rockstar to make an official remaster for its legacy title for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Fans Get Something Until GTA 6
This has been the longest wait between two Grand Theft Auto titles. September 17 marked the sixth anniversary for GTA 5’s console release. Fans are getting something to sink their teeth in with the remastered Mafia version until Rockstar announces GTA 6.
The upcoming title will be likely announced in 2020 and the release date is out of the question for now. Until then, the rumor mill is in the works with new GTA 6 rumors popping up every day. The remastered Mafia title may give them a break with fans getting a chance to experience the nostalgia of Mafia and Mafia 2.
