LG has officially announced its flagship LG V60 ThinQ though the phone will come into the market much later in the year. This is a successor to the LG V50 ThinQ and many design aspects including the Dual Screen attachment provision have been retained. The new phone will be out with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC but the South Korean company itself has highlighted the camera section in the device.
LG has not cut corners while equipping this new device, the LG V60 ThinQ. The tall display measures 6.8inches with an OLED panel and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The aspect ratio is 20.5:9. The Full HD+ screen offers a resolution of 2,460 x 1,080 pixels. There is a waterdrop notch to house the front camera.
As mentioned, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will be the processor and the Qualcomm X55 modem ensures the phone can be connected to a 5G network. LG clarifies that the phone will support both the mmWave and sub-6GHz technologies. The processor gets RAM support of 8GB and an internal storage capacity of 128GB. There’s a provision for a microSD card. The Android 10 OS out of the box will be the operating system. The display has a fingerprint scanner under it.
As for the camera, the primary shooter is a 64MP sensor and has a 13MP wide-angle sensor for support. The third camera is a time of flight (ToF) sensor. The front camera for selfies is 10MP. Some of the special features of this camera setup include the capability of 8K video recording with the “Steady Cam” feature that stabilizes the video being shot even if your hands are not steady.
The LG V60 ThinQ is fitted with a 5,000mAh battery that has Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0+ wireless charging support. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, USB 3.1 Type-C port and NFC are the communication provisions. LG appears to have worked out a better system for the Dual Screen technology where you can attach an additional display alongside the main one which offers a number of options.
Launching Later in 2020
It will be interesting to see what price LG fixes for the LG V60 ThinQ since the device will be rubbing shoulders with many other brands that have released smartphones with as good or better specifications. The exact launch date has also not been confirmed.
