Users are not happy with the fact that the phones they purchased just months ago may not get the latest Android version. LG is taking steps to ensure you don’t have to keep changing your device every one or two years. The company has announced that they will launch a new Software Upgrade Center.
While Google is doing its part to bring out the latest Android versions to all compatible smartphones with Project Treble, major manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Huawei, and Motorola are doing their part to make it easier to roll out an update.
First Ever Center
In their official blog, LG announced that they have opened the first ever Software Upgrade Center in South Korea which will enable them to roll out faster Android updates to LG smartphones used by people around the globe. The location of the center is in Korea but it is expected to be the centralized hub from where all software updates will be rolled out from now on including operating systems, security patches and any other update as required.
The company in their statement added that their sole aim is to provide faster, timelier software updates to their customers worldwide. The upgrade center will play a huge role in allowing the company to boost its smartphone department by offering consistent user experience across all devices. The center is located at LG’s R&D campus n Magok-dong, Western Seoul.
Strong Focus on Android Updates
LG wants to make sure they bring Android OS updates as quickly as possible in countries where they have a strong presence and a large number of people use their smartphones. The first plan is to bring Android 8.0 Oreo update for LG G6 and it will be rolled out in Korea first before it is made available in other parts of the world.
