Recently, LG made an announcement that they are opening a new Global Software Upgrade Center. The future location will be back home in South Korea. However, there was more good news for the LG fans: Android Oreo will be coming to the proud owners of the LG G6 model.
Prepare for Android Oreo
Currently, the Global Software Upgrade Center is in charge of accelerating the updates. They want to bring newer versions of the mobile OS developed by Google to the LG phones. This is major news since the LG phones have always had troubles when it came to this.
Keeping that in mind, it’s time for you to know that the company confirmed the release of the Android Oreo to the LG G6 by the end of April in South Korea. Then, it will be followed by a global release. By the end of May, we should be expecting it on the UK market, as well as in other countries.
The Official Statement
LG confirmed all this in an official statement, where they explained what is the first initiative the Software Upgrade Center in Korea came up with. No doubt, this is great news for the LG G6 owners. However, there’s no surprise in the company’s decision. The LG G7 ThinQ is preparing for its great unveil on the 2nd or 3rd of May. The releases will take place in New York and Seoul. No wonder the company got the update all prepped up. Their goal here is to make older handsets ready to receive it around the same time as the new devices are being released.
Finally, the Global Software Upgrade Center will take care of ensuring a consistent user experience, as they declared. Simply put, this may mean that they want to avoid another boot loop problem.
