Some users of Lenovo Yoga laptops experienced the issue when the camera stopped working. While it may sound like a hardware-related problem, it doesn’t have to be the case. Most of the time, some changes made in the Settings will fix the issue. Here is what to try if the Lenovo Yoga camera not working.
Lenovo yoga camera not working – ways to fix it
Before we move to the steps that could be considered more complex, there are two things for you to try first. The Lenovo camera can be enabled and disabled with the F8 button on the keyboard. So before going further, hit that button and see if the camera is working. Perhaps you disabled it at some point, maybe non even on purpose. The second thing is the restart. Whenever you are experiencing some sort of issue with your laptop, a restart could be the answer as it can fix minor glitches and will also provide a memory boost, so give it a try.
If the camera is not working for a specific app, perhaps the app does not have permission to use the camera. Here is how to check that:
- Type Camera in the search box and then open the app
- Right at the top, you will see the option “Allow apps to access the camera”. If this option is turned off, click on the switch to enable it.
- In the list below, you can select the apps which can access the camera.
Update the driver
Perhaps the driver update is needed. Here is what you need to do:
- Right-click on the Start button
- Select Device Manager
- Find Lenovo camera, right-click on it and then click on Update Driver.
In some cases, Windows can’t find the driver automatically. You can check the Lenovo website and look for the latest drivers.
Make sure the camera is enabled
You can check for this in Device Manager. Just like in the previous step, right-click on the Start button > Device Manager > Lenovo camera. Right-click on it and click Enable (if possible). If you see Disable option only, it means the camera is turned off.
Lenovo Vantage app
Here is another thing for you to do. Check if the camera is disabled in Lenovo Vantage. To do that, launch Lenovo Vantage and go to My Device Settings > Display & Camera.
