Apple’s market plans are always subject to intense speculation, many of which may not turn out to be true. The company keeps details to itself and rarely reveals them. Some analysts, like Dan Ives at Wedbush, come up with their opinion on what to expect, just to keep your interest alive. The latest prediction by Dan Ives is that Apple will be releasing four variants of the iPhone 12, not just three as earlier believed. There are major changes expected in the 2020 models of the iPhones.
All iPhones will be 5G Compliant
Whether you go by this new prediction or Ming-Chi Kuo’s assertion that Apple will continue with the three-variant format of the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Pro, both agree that all variants will be 5G handsets and fitted with the OLED display panels.
On the design front, a strong rumor doing the rounds is that Apple is contemplating reverting to some of its old flat straight-sided form factor. How that shape will look in a large-sized smartphone is an aspect that needs to be seen. One speculation claims the screen of the iPhone 12 range will have a refresh rate of 120Hz. Will the system on the chip used next year be an improvement on the existing processor and built on the 5nm technology? Is the switch to the USB-C type connector from the lightning port going to take place? These can also be speculated as on now.
Two additional features being rumored about the next year’s iPhones are 3D Time of Flight (ToF) camera and a gesture and motion sensing radar, similar to the ones you see on the Google Pixel 4.
iPhone SE 2 Will be Added to the Range
Dan Ives too has talked about the iPhone SE 2 being launched by Apple in the first quarter of 2020. If this added to this list, then there will be 4 or 5 iPhone models released by the manufacturer next year, depending on whether you trust Dan Ives or Ming-Chi Kuo.
An interesting prediction by Dan Ives is that Apple will end up selling 185 million units of iPhones for the full fiscal year. That would also confirm earlier reports that the iPhone 11 range has been received very well in the market and has boosted both the company’s sales and spirits.
