iPhone 10th Anniversary Might Be More Expensive Than Its Predecessor

Since the first iPhone gen was launched, Apple never missed launching a new version every year. This year will be the 10th anniversary of the iPhone that’s why some rumors said it’s going to be called iPhone X instead of iPhone 8.

The rumors also suggested it’s time for Apple to extremely redesign the iPhone 10. According to Fast Company, the iPhone 10th anniversary is likely to cost more than $1000. It means the price is much higher than iPhone 7 Plus 256GB ($969).

“A special 10th anniversary edition of the iPhone is expected to be the ultimate iPhone, and it’ll come with a price tag to match—very likely north of $1,000, says a source with knowledge of Apple’s plans.”

Why is iPhone 10th anniversary so expensive?

iPhone 10th anniversary reportedly will adopt a glass enclosure with stainless steel on its edges. This design reminds us to iPhone 4/4s. The next iPhone X will have a 5.8-inch screen size with OLED technology and bezel-less approach. The price for this technology is much higher than LCD of the current iPhone gen.

Moreover, the physical home button might be integrated to the iPhone display directly. This is the other reason why the iPhone 10th anniversary is likely to cost so expensive. Those factors above make the $1000 price for a premium version make sense.

Three iPhone models will be launched

The sources also told Fast Company that Apple will probably launch three iPhone models this year. Alongside, iPhone 10 they will also release the annual cycle for iPhone: iPhone 7s and 7s Plus.

The other two interesting technologies which will come to iPhone 10th anniversary are wireless charging and 3D sensing technology. The second one can be used for face recognition feature, improving image quality, or augment reality.

“Our source says Apple has been working with Lumentum (formed when JDS Uniphase split in 2014) on 3D-sensing technology for the new high-end phone. It remains unclear how the technology will be applied, however. It could be used to recognize the user’s face for authentication. It could also be used in the camera to provide better image resolution. It could even be used in some form of augmented reality application, according to our source.”
