Comparing the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet with iPad Air 2 can seem a bit unfair since these are two tablets with two very different prices. However, if you look past that you can see that these two products are good for average users and you can consider both of them for a future acquisition.
Display and design
The Apple iPad Air 2 has a 9.7-inch screen that is large enough for all your needs. Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet has a smaller screen, an 8-inch one. The screen size also determines the resolution. Since its screen is smaller, Fire HD 8 comes with an 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and a 189 ppi pixel density. Air 2 a 1536 x 208 resolution with 264 ppi pixel density.
The iPad Air 2 comes with a beautiful minimal design and an elegant material. Compared to that, Amazon is less classy. It has a basic plastic shell and it is available in bold colors: red, yellow and black. Thanks to its material it can probably survive a few drops. This device can also feel heavy, weighing around 311 g and it is not water resistant. iPad Air 2 doesn’t have these problems.
The Apple features a tri-core CPU and a 2 GB RAM. It also has a good battery life. Fire HD 8 has a 1 GB Ram and less storage space. iPad Air 2 has a superior camera and it also offers a fingerprint sensor.
Since there is a significant price gap between these two it is easy to understand why iPad Air 2 can win this battle. However, if we look at the price-performance ratio, the Amazon tablet might be the real winner.
