Huawei is all set to take the lineup of its Nova-series of smartphones a notch ahead soon, with the launch of the latest edition to the series – the Nova 6 and Nova 6 5G. However, no one knows the exact date on which the Nova 6 will be launched officially.
The phone is expected to launch after Honor V30 in December this year in China. Some rumors among the netizens suggest that a 2020 launch can be expected in India, around 12th February, which will most likely be one of Huawei’s first set of launches in the country for the year. Although the launch date is still in the dark, a new render of the phone recently went viral.
The said render which reveals the phone’s design was ousted by 91mobiles, which obtained it via a trusted source, as per its claim. The Huawei Nova 6 5G is shown in the render to have a sleek and stylish glass sandwich design that has a gradient finish, as well as an-display fascia. Much like its predecessor Nova 4 that came out in 2018, the Nova 6 5G is also shown to have a punch-hole display with the dual-lens front camera, unlike Nova 4’s single lens. The punch-hole looks like a pill in the leaked render, placed on the top-left side of the screen.
The Huawei Nova 6 5G’s render shows the phone having very slim bezels on all three sides with a narrow chin at the bottom. The rear side of the phone’s body has a vertically-aligned triple-lens rear camera set up in the top-left corner. The camera setup has three sensors coupled with an LED flash, an interesting etching that says ‘AI Camera’. The cameras will be powered by laser autofocus or 3D ToF sensor which can accurately calculate the distance between the phone and the desired subject. As of now, there’s no information on the camera resolutions. The render also showed another design feature – the power button and volume rocker of the phone are located on its right edge.
The renders show no visible physical fingerprint scanner on the phone, which implies that there will be one under the phone’s screen. Some eagle-eyed viewers also remarked that the slight black lines on the sides and top edge of the Nova 6 could be antennas for 5G connectivity. The phone supports 5G internet bandwidth, and with the spectrum soon coming to major cities in India, that’s definitely a major plus point.
Currently, Huawei’s Kirin 990 SoC flagship 5G chipset is found only in the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. However users just spotted another Huawei 5G model registered in the database of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) by the number WLZ-AN00. Tech gurus are speculating that this phone could indeed be the Huawei Nova 6 5G, which has also been codenamed Waltz. The CMIIT listing didn’t throw light on other hardware specifications of the model, but it’s likely to ship with Kirin 990 5G SoC.
The variants of the above model were spotted in China’s CCC certification website, which confirmed that it will come with 40W charging speed. Apart from this, Huawei Nova 6’s specifications have not been revealed officially or even leaked online. Rumor has it that the phone will come in both 4G and 5G connectivity variants. Moreover, multiple model numbers like WLZ-TL10, WLZ-TL00, WLZ-AL10, WLZ-AL00, WLZ-L29, WLZ-LX2, have been seen on the Bluetooth SIG database, which could be for various variants of the phone. Nova 6 will be the first 5G smartphone from Huawei in the mid-range segment, which makes it a tough competition for other phones in the same range.
