HTC Vive vs. Oculus Rift – Best Prices, Specs and Improvements

We have witnessed in the recent years a huge success of virtual reality when it comes to entertainment. However, there have been lots of questions about the use of this technology outside the entertainment world. Many people have also been questioning the use it has in the mainstream social media. Besides these facts, two amazing pieces of this technology stand out, namely Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Naturally, both of them have their pros and cons.

Oculus or HTC?

One of the first areas to compare the two would by the price. The HTC Vive costs $800, while the Oculus Rift got a price cut from $800 to $600. This price drop may have happened because of the fact that HTC and Sony are entering the market full speed ahead.

The Feel

The Oculus Rift had in mind a smooth and ergonomic feel for their handsets. While they are made in a spherical manner that might strike you as odd, they feel really good. The buttons are well thought so that they can help you browse the web, Meanwhile, the HTC Vive doesn’t compare. It offers some cylindrical and unnatural hand controls. Even so, they are rather easy to use.

Tracking Area

The tracking area is the space used by the headset to pick up the sensors whenever you play a game. A greater area means that you can move more. The Oculus Rift can brag with an area of 8.2 x 8.2 feet, when you use the three sensors. At the same time, the HTC Vive can offer a space of 11.5 x 11.5 feet.

Conclusion

Even though both of them are great devices, there has to be a winner. In this case, the Vive seems to be better. Even though the Rift is more affordable, with Vive you can truly enjoy a better VR experience.
