Users of AT&T’s HTC One M9 will be receiving their own Android 7.0 Nougat, and their website will provide information on how to move forward past the OTA. It is unknown as of yet if anyone has received the update, but the fact that the OTA has been mentioned on the website suggests that it will be arriving soon for HTC One M9 users.
The Sprint version of the device has already received the Nougat update, and it had a size to boast. It was 1.02GB in size and had brought with it all the security patches as of February 2017. The Sprint update had the number 4.27.651.4 as version. It brought with it new features such as the ability to split-screen applications, quick settings that are customizable, and so on. It also had some rather less detailed updates, with terms such as ‘’system performance enhancements’’ being seen in it. It is good to see that even though this phone wasn’t successful in any meaningful way, they haven’t abandoned it and are still providing it with updates.
It is nice to see that AT&T are also getting this attention in the form of the Nougat update. It’s not an easy process to move the Nougat update, in no small part due to its size, but also because of the variety of systems it has to be installed it. Sadly, the AT&T website does not provide much information regarding what exactly is changed, only that it includes the same security patches from February.
It tells us that we can download the update via FOTA, that we must have the device connected to a Wi-Fi in order to download it. The changelog also comes with a mention that users should attempt to make back-ups of any needed data from the phone, as the update might have some effect on them.
