How To Use Xbox One Controller on PC

When you play games on PC, you usually use the keyboard and mouse as the controllers. Actually, if you use gamepad as a controller, you can get a better experience in playing games on PC. How To Use Xbox One Controller On PC

Preparation

To be able to connect Xbox One Controller on PC, you have to install the driver first. If you have upgraded to Windows 10, the most current drivers are pre-installed with the operating system. For PC with Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, you’ll need to download and install the driver packages.

1. Before you download the driver packages, check your Windows version first:

  • Windows 7
    – Click the Start button >> Control Panel >> System and Maintenance, and then Choose System.
    – Under System, you can view the system type
  • Windows 8
    – Click the start button, on Start Screen, you can type “control panel”
    – On Control Panel >> System and Maintenance, and then Choose System.
    – Under System, you can view the system type

2. Download the proper driver packages for your Windows version, 32bit or 64bit on the link below. Each of them has the file size less than 3MB.

3. Install The Driver Packages

The driver packages that you download has the file name: xb1usb.11059.0.140526×64.msi or xb1usb.11059.0.140526×86.msi are the executable installer. Follow the wizard installer and make sure there’s no issue during the installation process.

4. Prepare The USB Cable

Xbox One Controller has to be connected using a micro USB cable. You can prepare any micro USB cable you have.

You can just connect the Xbox One Controller to your PC by using micro USB.

Your PC will recognize the Xbox One Controller from pop up message on the system tray taskbar.

You can use it directly as a companion game tool for your games. The next step is to check whether the game that you are going to play is compatible with the Xbox One Controller or there’s an update for it. For Windows 10 users, the Xbox One Wired Headset and the Xbox One Stereo Headset are compatible with a PC when connected through the Xbox One Controller, as long as the firmware has been updated to the latest version. The Problem You May Face

If the Xbox One Controller is not recognized when for connected the first time, try these:

  • Try the other USB port
  • Try the other micro USB that you have
  • Re-install the driver that you have downloaded
  • Update your Windows
