The winter is here and in such circumstances, the electronic devices can be vulnerable if you don’t take certain precautions. First, you should note that notebooks and tablets require moderate temperatures to operate at optimum system’s performance. In general, such information is available in the instruction manual. To take advantage of a greater safety, it’s best to avoid temperatures below 5 degrees.

Not only the performance has to suffer from low temperatures, but the battery capacity decreases significantly too. With the notebook recharging at low temperatures below five degrees Celsius, the charging process is extended considerably. Therefore, it’s important above all to slowly warm the notebook to room temperature, after being kept at the lower temperature, and only then recharge the battery.

We must not forget the damage that can be caused by sudden temperature changes. Once being in a warm room with a laptop who spent some time in the cold, it’s not intended to power on immediately. Condensation generates water droplets that cause unwanted damage on a hard drive and can lead to data loss.

Lastly, the laptops should not be transported or stored without protection, but only within laptop cases or bags. A few hours in the cold can have a huge impact on the hardware’s functionality. If the device was stored in cold for a long time, it is highly recommended to remove the battery and store it in a warm place.
