Now, most Steam users are confused about the refund system and wish that there was a more friendly system that involves less interaction with customer support to figure out the solution. If confusing aspects can be addressed properly then the process of steam refund can go very smoothly. Truthfully, refund system is very generous, any purchased game on Steam can be refunded. How to get steam refund: Requirements
Whenever you are requesting for a refund, there are two requirements to consider. First, the game should be refunded within the 14 days of purchase and secondly, it should not include the total play time of two hours. If you ask for a refund and don’t meet these requirements, then obviously a refund cannot be guaranteed. Steam also cannot refund games that are purchased from somewhere else and added to Steam later. Moreover, abusing refund may also disqualify you to get any more refund. Refunds are not designed so that we keep trying games for free.
In order to request a refund, first log in to Steam and access the support page by going to Help > Steam Support. Secondly, locate and select the game that needs to be refunded which will be under Recent Products or Purchases tab, depending on the time of its purchase. Then the support system will want to know what kind of issues you’re having with the game, click the first option; I would like a refund. During the short eligibility analyses, you can set up the destination for the refund amount. In case you come up as ineligible for a refund, the system will still allow you to request one anyway after informing you the same.
Then you will be given a chance to describe why do you want a refund for the purchased game. You need to select one reason from the drop down box and type your review or suggestion about the game in the given space. After completing all fields of the form, click “Submit request” to close the process. The notification arrives through email that confirms your request will be reviewed for approval. A second email confirms whether the refund is processed or not. Normally the refund request is answered within a few hours. The refund payment can either be received in your Steam wallet or via the original payment method. For example, if you used a debit card to make a purchase, then refund amount will be added to your bank account.
The same refund policy applies to other purchases and accessories from steam including Downloadable Content (DLC), In-Game Purchases, and Steam Hardware. You can also receive a full refund for any bundle that you purchased on Steam Store. However, the items in the bundle will be treated individually. If there is video content in the bundle, then it will also be included in the refund policy otherwise there is no refund policy on video content.
Customers also bear in mind that there can be a lot of games or DLC that are just not refundable. For example, a game purchased as a gift for some other Steam user cannot be refunded if it’s redeemed. Moreover, the In-Game purchases made in some games are also not refundable.
