There can be a very simple explanation to your camera performing slow while taking pictures which is Picture Stabilization turned on and you are shooting in lower light situations. Picture Stabilization is a mode on the Galaxy S5 camera app that helps you take clearer and brighter pictures in low light situations without using the flash. As such you need to hold the phone still for longer to allow it to do its thing. In good lighting situations you really don’t need this. This feature is enabled by default and is causing many owners a lot of grief.

Steps to disable Picture Stabilization

-> Open the camera app.
-> Select the Tap option.
-> Turn off Picture Stabilization mode

By turning off this mode most of the issues with slow performance should be eliminated but if you intend to click pictures during night you may turn on this mode but always remember to turn it off once you are done clicking pictures.

As of now this is the only reason why 99% of the users are facing slow camera performance issue with Samsung Galaxy S5. So in case even after following the above mentioned steps you are still facing the issue you could try to perform a Factory Reset to your device, but before doing that make sure that your data is backed up as it will erase all your data. You could also wait for the next Operating System update as a patch might be released for this. If nothing works out you could contact the phone manufacturer Samsung and get the device replaced.
