An exciting tech update on GTA 6 that’s been doing the rounds on the internet could be bad news for PS4 and Xbox One players out there. It’s been 6 years since the release of GTA V, and even though the game still ranks amongst the highest played games in the world, a sequel is highly awaited.
For the last couple of years, fans around the world have been eagerly waiting for updates on GTA 6’s release, and although there haven’t been any done officially yet, the game remains one of the world’s most highly anticipated video games. With the millions of active users and billions of dollars in revenue flowing in ever since the release of Diamond Casino, GTA 6’s release doesn’t seem likely to come anytime soon. However, if rumors are to be believed, the game will be a technological marvel that’ll be out of reach for many.
GTA 6 to be next-gen only?
A recent new reveal indicates in the direction that upcoming GTA 6 will not be released on PS4 and Xbox One. The theory suggests that GTA 6 will be next-gen hardware exclusive affair. If this is true, it would mean that the next Grand Theft Auto game will run only on next-gen gaming hardware setups like PS5, Xbox Scarlett, Google Stadia, and probably on PC too.
However, since there is no official word on the matter from Rockstar Games, we will take this information with a pinch of salt. After all, it was recently reported that Sony has now sold over 100 million units of PS4, which makes it the world’s highest sold gaming hardware setup ever. Therefore, the possibility of GTA 6 being available on PS4 cannot be ruled out totally.
But then again, there are at least a couple of years to GTA 6’s release, and a next-gen exclusive game’s idea may not be so absurd after all. Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two, recently hinted at upcoming next-generation gaming projects with better than ever graphics and gameplay. Zelnick said in his statement that the company has a new console generation coming, which will make space for some things that they haven’t been able to do before creatively, and although there’s no particular mention of GTA 6, you get the gist.
GTA 6 to headline next-gen gaming phase from Rockstar?
Now that Strauss has made it clear that the company is planning on a new line of next-gen games, it seems very likely that Grand Theft Auto 6 would be the first of many. GTA 6 will have a GTA Online mode, especially after the enormous success the first one has received. CEO Strauss also said that Take-Two is coming up with the strongest development pipeline ever in all its history, which will include sequels from their biggest franchises along with brand-new IP.
The next-gen gaming hardware technology is definitely going to be the most revolutionary gaming hardware tech the world has ever seen, and giants like Take-Two would never miss a chance at capitalizing on it. Therefore, GTA 6 will certainly be available on next-gen hardware. However, given the existing user base on present-generation gaming consoles, they might not want to make GTA-6 exclusive to next-gen hardware only. Stay tuned for updates!
