We do not have to start telling you that Rockstar has made one of the most successful game franchises with their GTA series. Almost everyone knows this, even if they are a savvy gamer or not. However, in light of recent events (and by recent events we meant the fact that GTA 5 was released five years ago) fans have started to speculate about the possible release date for the next installment in the series, namely GTA 6.
Today we are planning to speak more at length about the possible release date for GTA 6 and the reason why it might get delayed.
GTA 5 Online still successful
The first thing that fans of the series need to take into account is that the GTA 5 Online game version is still highly successful. Rockstar is very much aware of this, which is why it is continually offering new updates and new content for players. Even if the game got released a while back, playing the online version is still enjoyable up to this day. Even new gamers are buying GTA 5 Online and giving it a run. However, in one or two years’ time, we expect that the popularity of the game will decrease since fans will want to go to the next game in the series. When that happens, Rockstar will have to be prepared to launch or to almost ready to release GTA 6.
Since fans have a lot of expectations when it comes to the game (Rockstar did set the bar high with this game series), Rockstar will need a couple of years to develop and fully create the latest game.
GTA 6 Release Date
Fans have been speculating and, following the patterns that Rockstar seems to follow, the most probable date for the release of GTA 6 is either 2020 or 2021. And even if that may be the truth, by now we have gotten used to the studio having to push back their release dates to finish working on the game. So 2022 might be the worst case scenario but the most probable one at the same time.
Yes, Rockstar is very secretive when it comes to details about their games, letting almost nothing slip past their watchful gaze, but with GTA 6 they might need to make an official announcement very soon. It is fun to leave fans waiting and get more hype around a new game, but at one point you have to tell them something official about the game or they will stop being interested. We hope that Rockstar is aware of that.
