Google’s Server-side Testing Causes Issues to Apps

Recently, Google has been randomly using some server-side tests in order to see how would the changes to the Android UI behave or how would users receive the new features they added to the platform. The problem with these tests turned out to be the fact that they lead to some unpredicted results. At the moment, the team is running two tests that apparently caused some issues to the Google Now and Google Play Store apps.

What Is the Issue?

The test done to the Google Play Store app turned out to delete everything found on the home page. It doesn’t mean that the app stopped working, so you can still search whatever apps you need, install them and do some manual updates to them. However, despite all this, the homepage remains blank and there doesn’t seem to be any solution for the issue. The only thing you can do for now is to expect the Google team to release a fix for it.

Google Now Issue

Meanwhile, the problem with the Google Now app is the fact that there is an error message that appears on the screen, and you no longer see the informative cards that characterized this app. Thankfully, this time there is a solution: you have to go to Settings/ More/ App Manager/ Google App/ Manage Storage/ Clear Google Search Data and open the app again. Now the cards should appear there just like they did before.

However, these don’t seem to be the only issues Google has cause with their tests. Some other users reported that they encountered some problems with the Google Assistant app too. For now we don’t have more information about this, but we hope that the developers will release a fix for this one too quite soon.
