Google Pixel 4a Design Revealed via Renders of its Case

As it happens with many smartphones, case makers share the details of models yet to be released and give you a peek into what can be expected. The latest to receive this treatment is the Google Pixel 4a. The budget phone may still be months away from its release but the protective case is under design. You can make some predictions on the features and specs that appear in the pictures. Speculation is rife that Google does not intend releasing the budget model of its premium Google Pixel 4XL this year. The Google Pixel 4a will be the lone device in this slot.

A Single Camera in the Square Bump

In an unusual move, the images leaked indicate that Google has chosen to retain the square bump for housing the rear camera in the Google Pixel 4a as well though there is just one camera. You would think it is a bad design idea to retain the bump for this single sensor. There are comments on how the positioning of the flash above the sensor is also quite odd. Google usually gets it quite right when it comes to the camera section but the designing of the optics section can be given more consideration from the aesthetics perspective. Also unmistakable from the images is the fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

Other Known Specs of the Device

The Google Pixel 4a is predicted to have a display size of 5.81 inches and will sport a punch hole in it. Google had been providing large-sized notches on its smartphones and this is perhaps the first time it has adopted the punch hole route. The hole is placed at the top left corner of the display. The new images show the 3.5 mm jack on the top edge as well.

Google follows the practice of unveiling its new smartphones at the developers’ conference and this year may not be any different. The I/O 2020 is likely to be held in the month of May this year.
