Verizon has just released the firmware updates for the Google Pixel series phones – all six of them in one go. Though most of them relate to the Android security update patch, here are the model-wise details of the updates and their version numbers, starting with the last released model, the Google Pixel 3XL.
Google Pixel 3XL: Software Update Version PQ2A.190205.001
This 5th update for the Google Pixel 3XL by Verizon contains the latest Android security patch released only on February 5. The main update too is related to the security patch from Android. The remaining stuff would address the issues that have been fixed if any.
Google Pixel 3: Software Update Version PQ2A.190205.001
The version number is the same for both the variants and the contents of the software update pack from Verizon for Google Pixel 3 would be identical to the one for the 3XL. It would address the reported issues besides the February update for Android security.
Google Pixel 2XL, Pixel 2: Software Update Version PQ2A.190205.002
In the case of the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL too, Verizon has followed the same pattern of keeping the version number the same for the latest February software update being released. There could be updates to optimize the performance levels of the devices. This is an ongoing exercise as the manufacturers keep responding to any kind of minor and major issues brought to their notice by the users. The Android security patch dated February 5 is also included in this update pack.
Google Pixel, Pixel XL: Software Update Version PQ2A.190205.003
These two devices are the oldest in the current lot, having been launched by Google in 2016. The display size on these phones is 5 inches for the Google Pixel model and 5.5 inches for the Pixel XL model. These have now received their 29th software update. There is no specific mention of any particular issue mentioned by Verizon. These phones are receiving their regular software update and Android security patch from the carrier.
