The “Lite” variant of the Google Pixel 3 and 3XL have been rumored for quite a while now and was even expected to be launched in 2018. The device has now been spotted on the benchmarking site with a slightly different moniker, Google Pixel 3a XL. But the brief specs you find on the Geekbench, read with some of the information already available through the past few months and sound a mouth-watering prospect for the smartphone buyers.
The Lite Version Maybe Positioned as a Mid-Segment Model
Going by the expectations in the market, this new phone from Google could fulfil the slot that exists for a phone with decent all-around specs, providing stock Android experience and priced at an affordable level. For starters, the phone is likely to sport a 6-inch full HD+ 1080 x 2160 pixels IPS LCD display that has a pixel density of 402ppi. The phone is being equipped with the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC processor getting support from 4 GB RAM. At least these two specs are appearing on the Geekbench report.
The Google Pixel 3 and 3XL have been appreciated for the kind of photography experience they offered. And they just have one camera in the rear and one in front. It is expected that the Google Pixel 3 Lite XL will be equipped with a 12 MP main camera in the rear and an 8 MP selfie camera. Google will spare no quarters in providing the AI support needed to make the whole imaging experience as immersive as it is on the main Pixel 3 and 3XL models. A 3195 mAh battery with the Quick Charging feature is also being predicted for this Lite model.
What About the Price?
The price that Google decides to sell this Google Pixel 3XL Lite might make or break it for Google in the smartphone market that so desperately wishes to occupy and grow. Many market observers feel that a price around $300 could do wonders to the model. But the phone has just appeared on the Geekbench. It may take a while before Google gets it into the market in numbers. But as and when that happens, it is sure to excite the average phone buyer out there. Despite some hiccups, the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL have been very well received in the market. The aspirational buyer, wishing to share some of that fun but cannot afford, could choose the Lite models and enjoy the experience.
