Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL: All We Know So Far

Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL: All We Know So Far

Google has been trying to breach the mobile market and become one of the top competitors for some time now. When they marketed the first two lines of their Pixel phones, they stated that their way of making phones was utterly different. In reality, it isn’t. The tech giant has encountered countless problems with these two smartphone lines both in the sales department and in the fact that the phones malfunctioned in multiple ways.

Will the company change its way around and work on improving the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL? Are they borrowing the design features from other companies? Will it finally come with dual cameras? These are all questions that people have been asking, and today we are going to give you all of the answers that you may want.

Fan made renders

A couple of possible renders for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have surfaced online just recently. Of course, these renders are not official. They are the creation of Twitter account @PhoneDesigner. The creator of these images decided to imagine how these phones would look like if they entirely borrowed Apple’s design. Quite ironic if you think of it. Why do we say that? Well, Google has been actively trying to compete against Apple by having the different marketing campaign, marketing simpler and better features. However, 2018 might just be the year when the tech giant will jump the wagon with many other phone brands and finally embrace the trends that Apple has instated.

Top notch

Whether you agree with it or not, 2018 is the year of the notch. Most Android users have been raging their dislike of this design feature, but it looks like their complaints will go unnoticed since most of this year’s flagship smartphones will come with this feature. The problem with this is that companies keep telling us that the notch is an inventive way of housing sensors and cameras without taking more of the display space. In reality, this looks like a blatant way for Android phones to copy Apple’s inventions. The same argument can be said about the headphone jack too.

Design and Cameras

The fan-made renders look like a more prominent and sleeker looking Pixel 2 XL. We are hoping that 2018 is finally going to be the year when Google will implement the dual camera’s setup that so many other companies are doing. Yes, last year the tech company made the right move when it marketed the Pixel 2 line by saying that their single rear camera was just as good as Apple’s dual cameras setup. No matter how good their single camera might be, it is time that they embrace the new trend. After all, Apple started to market the dual camera setup successfully so why not let Google step in its shoes and do the same thing but one year later.

Wireless charging

2017 was the year when almost every smartphone that came out on the market had this feature. Google did not make the same jump when they released the Pixel 2 line. Will 2018 be the time when they finally come with smartphones that allow for wireless charging? Since we are pretty sure that the rear end of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are going to be made out of aluminum, then it is likely that wireless charging support is going to become a reality.

When it comes to manufacturing, Google was known to manufacture its smartphones by contracting other companies. However, for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL it looks like the company will utilize Foxconn. If you do not know who Foxconn is, this is the manufacturing company used by almost every phone brand out there on the market. The chances are that the device that you own right now has been manufactured to some degree by Foxconn.

Yes, all this talk about how the phones are going to look is indeed impressive. But regardless of their design, how much will they cost? We have gotten used to Google coming up with smartphones that are not very budget friendly. If we stick with this logic, then we can safely assume that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be quite expensive.

There is also another problem that Google can’t seem to shake off no matter how hard they try. The phones just aren’t selling that well. For the competitors (top brands such as Samsung or Apple) this is a happy coincidence, but for the company, this means that their smartphone sales are just not as good as predicted. Will this problem be addressed and faced with the new smartphone line? We can only hope.

Last but not least, as we mentioned at the beginning of the article, these phones have some quality problems which undoubtedly turn buyers away from purchasing them. We are interested to see how this problem will be solved for Pixel 3. Will Google stick with Android’s Apple copycat trends and hope for the best or will they come with something new?
