We can all agree that Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL are some of the best smartphones that were ever produced, with the best camera available and unlimited storage options for photos and videos. Even though they have some pretty high prices, they offer exquisite quality and interesting features. Google revealed that they will release minimum 2 Pixel devices in 2017, and now it seems that they are working on a third one.
Possible May Announcement?
As such, people expect Google to come up with three Pixel devices in 2017. The first two are, naturally, the upgrades to the Pixel and Pixel XL and they will be named Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The third device is in the works now, and most likely it will be called the Pixel 2 XXL.
All three devices have received fish codenames. If you remember, the first Pixel devices were codenamed Marlin and Sailfish, and Google seems to be following the same pattern with the new ones: Walleye – referring to Pixel 2 – and Muskie – Pixel 2 XL. According to the codename (Taimen), the Pixel 2 XXL is going to be bigger than the other two devices. Pixel XL features a 5.5 inches display, so maybe the third phone will enjoy a 6+ inches display.
All three versions should run on the latest and most powerful chipset made by Qualcomm, namely the Snapdragon 835. Even though Google did not announce any specific release date for the Pixel 2, they can still do it at the Google I/O developer conference that will take place at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, between May 17 and May 19. Up until then, we can only be happy with some rumors and we can hope for some leaks, but that’s about it.
