Towards the end of last week, we got the chance to see that Google started rolling out an update to their Phone app. However, oddly enough, it seems that there are no obvious changes to it. Even though we have nothing to play with right now, let’s have a look at the most anticipated features to come for Google Phone 9.0.
It is not such a huge feature to be included, especially if we think about other major updates to OSs, but people are excited about the Notification Channels included in the Android O. Most Google apps don’t include this in their API, but the developers are working on it for the Phone app. Some of the channels have been rumored to be Ongoing Calls, Incoming Calls, Voicemails, Missed Calls, External Calls, plus Miscellaneous.
Some people are already talking about a feature containing a message you can send after you got a call. The message is a preset one and it would be useful for the situations where you can’t pick up the phone, such as when you’re driving or you’re in a meeting.
It’s years now since many phone manufacturers have been experiencing with offering certain features during calls. As such, you won’t waste time looking through the phone while you’re talking on it. One feature that is really useful allows you to snap quickly a picture and then send it to the person you’re talking to.
Last but not least, another interesting feature is the dialer codes. These have been used as a key method that lets people get access to secret menus and other functions. Motorola has been using these for years, and a list with their codes was included in the most recent Phone update. They are quite old, but this doesn’t mean they can’t be revived.
