A new toggle is available on the settings page with the name “special events &topics”. This new entry was created for those who are unfamiliar with how the app works. It can be disabled for those who do not want suggestions on when to use Google Duo.
For the Android O users, the notification channels have been updated. Users can now customize their notifications: modify sounds, vibrations, lights etc. Similar to apps such as Gmail or Android Messages, the app hides its own notification options and it provides a link to the channels screen instead.
Not all the changes of Google Duo will be available for all smartphones after updating. Some old interface elements might appear after the new update is installed.
Some changes in the Audio/Video toggles include: the toggles itself is no longer locked on the top of the screen; it is now attached to the contacts panel; the icons have been removed from the center of the toggle and the full list of contacts will show video/camera icons next to each contact.
The APX (cryptographic signature) signed by Google will guarantee that a certain file is safe to install and it has not been tampered.
